Arven Šakti Kralj Szomi is a translator from Slovenian into English, a Bachelor of Contemporary Critical Theory and Studio Practice (Goldsmiths College, University of London), a University Design Graduate of Visual Communications and a Master of Arts (Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana). She is a “licensed expert translator” of the Association of Scientific and Technical Translators of Slovenia (DZTPS), a member of the British Society of Authors (SOA) and a member of the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs (FIT). Writings on art and related creative subject matters, from art theory and history, to restoration and the contemporary visual practices, form a specialist area of expertise in her translation work. Her extensive translating oeuvre includes texts by some of the most challenging writers on art in Slovenia, and her clients are some of the most prominent art institutions in the country. Her presence in the world of art and design can also be felt in her work as a university lecturer, a member of various expert juries and committees, as well as a practising artist that marks the Slovenian cultural sphere with regular appearances in resounding solo and selected group exhibitions at home and abroad.
